Our Vision & Mission

Our vision is to develop a well rounded, confident and responsible individual who aspire to achieve their full potential. We will do this by providing a welcoming, happy, safe, and supportive learning environment in which everyone is equal and all achievements are celebrated, for each child to develop a curiosity of learning, discover their interests and grow in their love of learning. We also desire to have strong families through parent support\ fellowship and skills training.

Our Mission is to provide high quality education, good Christian values, in a safe respectful and inclusive environment that builds a foundation for long life learning, to provide exceptional care to children while fostering each child’s intellectual, social, physical and moral development in an academic rich environment.

Our GOAL

Our goal is to support and nurture the childrens’ desire to be long life learners. We are committed to families we serve, providing support and encouragement. We want to build skills that set children up for success in the Pre-School and beyond. To establish good Christian values that will serve as a foundation for Pre-School and beyond.

Safe, developmentally, inclusive environment for toddlers and pre-schoolers.

Our Pre-School to provide a meaningful child-centred, play based curriculum that builds life skills, independence, confidence and resilience to support each child in achieving their potential and to make transition into school and society.

We believe that a happy child is a successful one. We are committed to providing a positive, safe and stimulating environment for children to learn, where all are valued. We intend that all children should enjoy their learning, achieve their potential and become independent, life long learners.

We cultivate our children’s love for learning and encourage them to try new and exciting things, and give them a foundation to build on. The Christian values are incorporated in this foundation.

01. Belonging

We aim to provide a safe learning environment with a welcoming atmosphere which creates a sense of belonging amongst the families.

02.  Acceptance

We aim to offer a safe, happy place where everyone is known and valued and where differing needs are acknowledged, accepted and met.

03. Respect

We aim to encourage each child to be independent and develop a sense of responsibility for themselves and respect for others in the environment.

Our CIRRICULUM

At Sterpark Academy, we strive to ensure that our little learners are stimulated and educated to their maximum potential.

We have aligned ourselves with an organisation with the name of “Play, Learn, Win.” They are leaders in the industry for Pre-school Curriculums. The Curriculum is based on The National Early Learning Development Standards (NELDS) 2009 – a curriculum-related policy initiative focusing on the early learning needs of children from birth to four years. NELDS provides early learning standards and desired results of expected learning achievements for young children in a designated age range. NELDS must be used to develop curriculum and other learning materials for the sector.  The NELDS document is in fact the overarching document that gave birth to the National Curriculum Framework (NCF).

The purpose of the NCF is to facilitate learning and development in a holistic manner.  The NCF focuses on the first 1000 days and highlights the windows of development and opportunities for intervention or support to children in the age group birth to 4.  For practical purposes the NCF suggests that children must be divided into the following age groups:

  • 0-18 months
  • 18-36 months
  • 36-48 Months

With provision for the next age group 48-60 months by assuming they will move to Grade R.

This curriculum must focus on all of these developmental areas.  Should you wish to read more on this curriculum, please feel free to visit the Play, Learn, Win webpage

The Six Early Learning and Development Areas (ELDAS) are:

  1. Well-being
  2. Identity and belonging
  3. Communication
  4. Exploring mathematics
  5. Creativity
  6. Knowledge and understanding of the world
